Social Work Month
The Delaware Valley ACO is joining the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) in celebrating this year’s Social Work Month in March with the theme #SocialWorkBreaksBarriers! This theme highlights how social workers have enriched our society by empowering people and communities to overcome hurdles and aid to help others live life to their fullest potential.
Social work is a vital part of the care we provide across the DVACO network. Our social workers support our patients by addressing a full range of bio-psychosocial issues that impact overall well-being. From alleviating barriers to care to connecting patients to critical community resources, this special team works tirelessly to drive significant, positive changes across our patient population! We are thrilled to share this heart-felt testimonial from a patient who worked with one of our social workers.
“My social worker was wonderful! We developed a trusting relationship which permitted me to tell her what my fears were and how I was feeling and where I was “stuck”. This enabled us to work together to develop a plan and break it down into increments to help me move forward. She was always there when I needed her. To know her support, kindness, understanding and professional ability were there for me assisted me to get back to a productive life with tools to handle the problems I would be facing long term was absolutely a gift that was given to me. I no longer feel weak and scared. I know I am strong and can handle whatever comes my way! This program and more so, my social worker, have been a blessing in my life at a time when I could’ve continued to spiral downwards. Instead, I have become a strong confident woman who has the tools to succeed in life.
During Social Work Month, we urge you to educate yourselves about this amazing profession and thank the social workers in your lives!
